Over $40,000 raised for Loreto South Sudan during Happy Week

The annual celebration of the Feast Day of Mary Ward is a week-long affair at Loreto Toorak. Happy Week is a time for the students to spread Felicity in the community and to strive for the empowerment of others. Every class has been working diligently, organising a range of activities that not only bring joy but also raise funding for the Loreto School in Rumbek, South Sudan.

Happy Week today culminated in the annual Feast Day celebration, beginning with mass given by Most Reverend Denis J Hart, Archbishop of Melbourne at St Patrick’s Cathedral and finished with a student-organised fête at Loreto Toorak.

It is with great pride that we announce we have raised in excess of $40,000 for Loreto Rumbek, eclipsing our goal of $30,000. An extraordinary contribution to a very worthy cause, this money will be deployed in aid of Loreto Rumbek’s four main initiatives: famine relief, emergency health care, educational development and masonry vocational training. We thank each and every member of the Loreto Toorak community for their generous contributions to this mission and our School. It has been wonderful to explore and celebrate with you, this year’s theme: Let compassion lead our open hearts to Freedom.
